Why:
Gymnaestrada is non-competitive demonstration event that celebrates participation, community and promotes the spirit of Gymnastics For All. Gymnastics clubs, community dance groups and cultural groups can create group routines to perform on a carpet floor (non-sprung) surface, with dance and limited acrobatic skills. Groups can be comprised of all ages, all genders and gender identities, athletes of all skill and developmental levels and should seek to represent the full range of diversity in your community.
What:The theme of the 2nd annual Gymnastics Nova Scotia Gymnaestrada is Explore the Forest. Suggestions include using music and dance that invokes celebrating, protecting and living in harmony with nature. Groups can develop themes using one or all of the four elements Earth, Air, Fire and Water in movement, costume, props or music.
Using the event theme is completely optional - all routines and performances are accepted.
Clubs can be creative with music, costumes and small props (hoops, ribbons, balls etc) and can bring small equipment such as a mini tramp, spring board and landing mats to enhance performances.
Clubs are welcome to bring multiple groups. Using the form below, include number of group performances, how many in each group and describe the make up of each group. Ie Titans Seniors - 8-12 participants, ages 55-80 - dance routine performed to 'Big Yellow Taxi'.
How:
Still unsure or don't know how to come up with a routine?
1) Gymnastics Canada has some amazing resources here

2) GNS will be hosting a webinar to help clubs who are new to participating - check your email - all groups who submit a nominative registration will be sent an invite to the webinar, which will also be recorded.
Registration Fees:
The estimated cost will be $25.00 per group and is not due until the final registration. If this cost represents a barrier to participation please reach out to request that this fee be waived.
