Ellie Black and Vincent d’Entremont medal at 2019 Canadian Championships
Ottawa, ON – Ellie Black of Halifax, NS captured her sixth Canadian senior all-around crown at the 2019 Artistic Gymnastics Canadian Championships at Carleton University on Sunday. Ana Padurariu of Whitby, ON captured the silver, while Brooklyn Moors of Cambridge, ON took the bronze.
Black took the title with an overall score of 112.065, while Padurariu took silver with a total score of 110.799. Moors took bronze with a total score of 108.840. Black also took home Gold medals on Floor and Vault, Silver on Uneven Bars and Bronze on Beam.
“I was just excited to come out here and compete with the girls again, and to try out some new things, and see how everyone’s been coming back and building and I think everyone did an amazing job,” said Black who also captured the all-around title in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018. “This title means a lot, but every competition is different, and every competition is special. Right now we have a couple of great all-rounders, and some great depth in our team so it was really exciting to get out there and compete with them.”
In other women’s action, Jordyn Ewing (Hammonds Plains, NS) had a top 10 placing with a 4th place finish on Beam in the JO 10 (16+) category and Lauren Boyd (Truro, NS) had a 5th place finish on Vault in the JO 10 (12-15 years) category.
In the Men’s National Open division, Vincent d’Entremont of Halifax captured a Gold medal on Parallel Bars and placed 5th on Rings. Landon Duquette (Middle Sackville, NS) placed 6th All Around.
In Senior Men’s, Jeremy Bartholomeusz (Halifax, NS) tied for 5th on Pommels, 9th on Rings and 10th on Vault to take 6th place All Around.
Nova Scotia had 24 athletes competing in 2 disciplines (women's artistic gymnastics and men's artistic gymnastics) throughout the 4 days of competition.
